Paste to Markdown
Copy rich text from Word, Google Docs or any web page, paste it here, and get clean editable Markdown. Formatting survives, scripts and unsafe links do not — and nothing you paste ever leaves your browser.

Paste rich text from Word, Google Docs, a web page or an email. It is converted to Markdown locally — nothing is uploaded.
What this paste converter does
Moving content into a Markdown-based system usually means re-typing or fighting messy exported files. This tool reads the formatted HTML that Word, Google Docs and browsers put on your clipboard, converts its structure to Markdown, and hands you an editable result with a safe preview. Unsupported content is reported instead of silently lost.
How to use it
Input and output
Input: clipboard rich text (up to 2,000,000 characters of HTML) or plain text. Output: editable Markdown plus a sanitized live preview, with one-click copy and .md download.
Limitations
- Images, videos, embeds and form controls are dropped and reported — never fetched.
- Colors, fonts and CSS styling are not carried over; the conversion is structural.
- Very large rich-text pastes (over 2,000,000 characters of HTML) are rejected with a message.
Frequently asked questions
What can I paste into this converter?
Any rich text on your clipboard: content from Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, web pages, emails or note apps. The converter reads the formatted HTML from your clipboard and turns it into Markdown.
Which formatting is converted?
Headings (H1–H6), paragraphs, bold, italic, strikethrough, links, ordered and unordered lists (including nesting), blockquotes, inline code, fenced code blocks, tables and line breaks.
What happens to images, videos and embeds?
They are dropped, and the tool tells you how many were removed. Images are never uploaded, downloaded or fetched — no request is made to any image or embed server.
What if I paste plain text?
If the clipboard only contains plain text, it is inserted as-is and the tool notes that no rich-text formatting was found. Nothing is mangled trying to guess formatting.
Is the result identical to the original layout?
No. This is a structural conversion, not a pixel-perfect copy. Colors, fonts, CSS styling and complex layouts are intentionally not preserved — you get clean, portable Markdown.
Is pasted content safe and private?
The HTML is parsed in an isolated environment where scripts cannot run. Scripts, event handlers and unsafe links (like javascript:) are stripped and never appear in the result; only safe link protocols survive. Nothing is uploaded — conversion happens entirely in your browser.
